Abstract

The aim of this paper is to examine and observe the ways in which a passage from the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is translated into Croatian and Serbian languages, and to show the lexical, syntactic and cultural specificities of these translations as well as the differences between them. The paper will first provide a brief theoretical overview of literary translation and strategies that are relevant for literary translation. The main focus of the paper will be on the comparative analysis of the above mentioned translations. There is also commenting and comparing the translation equivalents and linguistic and cultural specifics and differences in Croatian and Serbian translations in relation to the selected text in the source language.
